NEW WIND CAPACITY

Offshore installations comprised 20% of total new wind capacity in Europe. By 2025, 105 GW of new wind capacity will be installed in Europe, with nearly 70% in onshore wind turbines.

WIND & SOLAR GROWTH

Wind and solar energy capacities are expected to grow by 1123 GW in total in 2020-2025 globally, at a 95% increase per year until 2025. Remarkably, in 2023, wind and PV combined shall exceed the capacity of natural gas, and in 2024 – the capacity of coal.

GLOBAL MARKET

According to a new report from Frost & Sullivan, USD$3.4 trillion will be invested in renewable energy globally by 2030. $2.72 trillion of this will go to wind and solar projects. The report predicts that nearly half of all energy-producing programs will take place in the renewable energy market.

NEW PLAYERS

By 2025, over 180 GW of global wind capacity will be 15+ years old. This means that a huge number of installations will require substantial refurbishment. 86 GW of this is in Europe. This will give the opportunity for new players to enter the market and influence trends.

HIGHEST POTENTIAL

Romanian’s wind potential is the highest in Southeast Europe. Its wind energy market is expected to register a CAGR of more than 2% during the forecast period of 2022-2027 with significant demographic and economic growth, leading to an increase in energy demand.

MARKETABILITY

The increasing demand for renewable energy, rising investments in wind farms, efforts to reduce the reliance on fossil fuel-based power generation, government policies, and declining wind energy costs are expected to drive the wind energy market in the country.

ON-SHORE DOMINANCE

While offshore wind farms are still in the planning stages, the country's wind energy sector was dominated by onshore wind farms, and will continue its dominance. Wind energy generated about 12% of Romania’s electricity in 2020 (3,029 MW). By 2030, this is expected to rise by 35%.

FUTURE GROWTH

According to WindEurope, Romania is expected to add 1.4 GW of new installations and investments are estimated to be over EUR 2 Billion for the next 5 years. Upcoming wind energy projects and plans to increase the renewable energy share in the country's power generation mix are expected to drive the market during the forecast period.

Romania has reduced its carbon footprint by more than 50% since 1990, becoming one of the leading countries in Europe for renewable energy.

Milestone Energy holds an agreement with 120 municipalities in the north-east of Romania. These lands are the most suitable for the installation of wind power plants. The Company first monitored the interesting areas, then installed 55 anemometers from 40 to 70 meters high, to certify the wind / hours and obtain the authorizations for the construction of wind farms.

BENEFITS

MUNICIPALITIES RECEIVE ROYALTIES FROM ENERGY PRODUCED

Once authorizations have been obtained, the concessions will be sold to the multinationals that will proceed with the construction of the parks. Participating Romanian municipalities will then receive a royalty calculated on the energy produced from the multinationals. For this reason, immediate execution of project disbursements are essential to preserve interest and maintain project integrity.
